WHY US?

Experienced and Qualified Teacher

All our classes are taught by our founder, Michael Wang, who has more than 15 years experience teaching creative writing and film in local and international schools.

Concept-based Curriculum

Our concept-based curriculum is designed to encourage independent learning and student agency. Students learn by articulating their process and their technique, rather than by rote memory.

Individual Attention

Every learner is unique. We scaffold our teaching to cater to the needs of your child. As a small setup, we are able to focus on the quality of instruction.

Dedicated Online Channel (24 / 7 Support)

Each class has a dedicated online Slack channel where students are engaged on an online setting outside of class. Students are prompted to participate in online discussions and provided with enrichment material to keep them reading, even when a class is over.

About me

Michael Wang is a graduate of the Florida State Film Conservatory, where he graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts (Summa Cum Laude) in film. He has a Master of Arts in Education with the University College of London's Institute of Education (IoE) and a Master of Fine Arts in Creative Writing from the University of British Columbia (UBC). He also has an Advanced Certificate in Teaching and Learning issued by the International Baccalaureate Organisation (IBO).

He has been teaching for fourteen years. From August 2023, he has been teaching Film and Media at the International School of Luxembourg and with the Global Online Academy (GOA). He was the Head of Film and Media at United World College, South-east Asia from 2018 -- 2022 and has also taught IB English Language and Literature and GCSE English Language and Literature. He has also taught at School of the Arts, Singapore and Hwa Chong International.

Michael is an award-winning children's author; his two picture books, Liam, The Brave and A Stray have been published by Marshall Cavendish in 2016. A Stray won the 2017 Best Picture Book Award at the Singapore Book Publisher's Award. Both books have been translated into Mandarin. The books were written for each of his two children.

While he isn't teaching and writing, Michael is also a filmmaker. He wrote, produced and directed The Carrot Cake Conversations, which was screened with Golden Village in 2008. His recent short film, Seahawk and the Thai Princess, was screened as part of the 2022 FascinAsian Film Festival in Calgary and Winnipeg.

He's a proud father of a thirteen-year-old boy, who wants to be a filmmaker when he grows up, and an eleven-year-old girl, who dreams of playing football for the Singapore National Team.

"Thank you so much for the advice and guidance you showered on Annette. We are so fortunate to have known you..."

Jana Soh - mother of Annette (NYGS / HCI)

Thank you for having Michael during the holidays. I believe in your method and look forward to your continued coaching as he prepares for his PSLE.

Bryan Tan - father of Michael (P6 ACS Primary)

"I don't know how you managed to help her. Her teacher in school said she should be happy with a "D" for her GP."

Heather Quek - mother of Hannah (ACJC)

I don't think I had another teacher that I was able to connect with like you.

Thank you so much for the support and encouragement you have given me. I will really remember and cherish your classes.
